Lee Westwood got off to a blistering start in the final round of the Wells Fargo Championship, as he was 7-under-par through 10 holes, but settled for a 6-under 30-36=66 that is good for the clubhouse lead.
The Englishman made the cut on the number before bouncing back with a strong weekend, and he concludes the week at 11-under 71-72-68-66=277. He circled five birdies and an eagle on the first 10 holes before taking his lone bogey on the 12th. He split eight (of 14) fairways, landed 14 GIR and took 28 putts (1.643 average) in his Sunday tour of Quail Hollow. He will finish almost three hours before the final pairing, and will now sit back and wait to see if his score will hold up. When he departs Charlotte, NC, he will head to THE PLAYERS after having skipped the event in 2011.
