David Ortiz told Rob Bradford of WEEI.com that he wouldn't feel "comfortable" playing with a one-year contract next season.
"I carry a lot of responsibility playing for this ballclub," Ortiz explained. "I try to keep up with it. But I don't think I can keep up with all the crap that you go through just because you cool off for one week or one month. I think the only way you can stay away from that when people know you have a guaranteed contract." The Red Sox hold a $12.5 million option on Ortiz for next season, but it sounds like the veteran slugger has designs on parlaying his rebound season into a multi-year deal. Don't look for the Red Sox to agree with him.
