Ilya Kovalchuk won't return to lineup Friday

Ilya Kovalchuk (shoulder) is not ready to return and won't play Friday night against the Ottawa Senators.
Kovalchuk attempted one-timers for the first during Thursday's practice but admitted soreness after the session. He didn't participate in Friday's morning skate and Pete DeBoer said Kovalchuk isn't "close enough to help us." The Devils don't play again until Monday so it's possible Kovalchuk could return then.
