Senden nets 7 birdies to co-lead Wells Fargo
May 3, 2012 - 5:35 PM ET

John Senden carded a 6-under-par 32-34=66 in his opening round of the Wells Fargo Championship to earn a share of the clubhouse lead.

It's no surprise that the Aussie split 10 (of 14) fairways and hit 16 greens, but that he negotiated seven birdies is reason to celebrate. After a strong start this season, he regressed with his putter, which he's always battled. Three of his birdies today found the cup from beyond 10 feet, the longest of which 16'3" at the 12th hole.
