Ryan Murray lifted weights on Monday for the first time since undergoing shoulder surgery in mid-January.
It's a big step in the recovery for the second overall pick in the 2012 Draft. He is expected to be ready for the start of training camp in September where he will compete for a job on the blueline. Murray has the skill, character, and hockey sense that every team looks for in a defenseman but likely will not be a big point producer in the NHL. Nevertheless, he should be an outstanding blueliner for the Blue Jackets for many years to come.
