Sven Baertschi - W - Calgary Flames
April 8, 2013 - 4:55 AM ET

Sven Baertschi had a tough time when he was demoted to the minors a month ago.

Baertschi sulked for a week upon his demotion to the AHL after picking up only one assist in 10 NHL games. But he soon realized that it was for the best and started playing better after that. "The best decision they made was to send me down," Baertschi said. "You get rattled, you get caught up in things. You're mad at people. You're mad at yourself. You don't even think about why it actually happened. After a little while, I understood. In the first couple of games in Abby I wasn't comfortable. I didn't want to be there. And then at the same time, I realized again if I want to go back up there, I've got to perform here. I've got to show them what I can do here." Baertschi ended up with four goals and seven points in the AHL and will now get a chance to play as the Flames wind down their season with only three weeks to go in the NHL regular season. He is worth looking at in keeper leagues.
