
Islanders general manager Garth Snow is "optimistic" that he'll be able to re-sign Mark Streit, according to Sportsnet's John Shannon.
It seems like now that Lubomir Visnovsky's deal is done, the attention will shift to keeping the Islanders' captain in uniform. The blueliner is in the final year of a five-year contract that carried an annual $4.1 million cap hit. Streit has 17 points this season.
