Derek Meech is thrilled that he is now with his hometown Winnipeg Jets.
Meech signed as an unrestricted free agent on July 1 after spending his whole career with the Red Wings organization. He played for Grand Rapids last season, scoring 10 goals and 37 points in 74 games. "I'm fired up and ready to go," Meech said. "I've been around for a long time and I know how it goes. It's up to me at this point to show how I can play and if I play to the standards that I'm comfortable with, then I'll be confident in knowing that I'll have some success." He will have no fantasy value if he cracks the Jets blueline.
