Goalie Mike Smith didn't participate in the Phoenix Coyotes' practice Friday.
He saw a doctor Friday morning and then came to Jobing.com Arena for treatment after taking a charge from Canucks defenseman Alex Edler late in the second period of a game Thursday night. Smith finished out the period but did not return for the third. Earlier, Daniel Sedin collided with Smith during a rush to the net. Smith is considered day to day. Edler, meanwhile, drew a two-game suspension after a disciplinary hearing with the player-safety department Friday. "They're talking more like a whiplash or something like that," Phoenix coach Dave Tippett said. "It's one of those things you don't know until you give it a couple days, and we'll see where it is."
