Malkin (shoulder) may not be ready for Friday

Evgeni Malkin tested his injured shoulder in some contact drills during Wednesday's optional practice.
He is hoping to be ready for Friday's game versus the New York Islanders, but he isn't sure if he'll be able to play by then. "Of course, yes, because (I'm) close. I (will) try to play Friday, but it's hard to say now because it's just (a) couple days more," Malkin said after the session. "We'll see." He has missed the last six games after getting hurt on Mar. 9 against Toronto.
