Matt Duchene's new diet helping his game

Matt Duchene switched to a gluten-free diet during the offseason and the resulting agility he gained has improved his play on the ice.

Duchene's weight has dropped from 204 last season to 194 now and on the advice of Sidney Crosby, he has begun using a stick two inches shorter than before. "You can really see the difference in Matt's game now. He really worked hard and it's paid off," said Avs coach Joe Sacco. After struggling through the 2011-12 campaign, the Avalanche center has taken a significant step forward this year.
