ReutersU.S. Soccer Federation officials have talked with Juergen Klinsmann about succeeding current American coach Bob Bradley, ESPN reported, citing an unnamed source.
The source said that Klinsmann, the former German team coach who turned down the U.S. job following the 2006 World Cup, met with Sunil Gulati, according to ESPN.
A USSF spokesperson declined to comment on the report, ESPN said.
ESPN said that Gulati and Bradley talked Thursday as part of a series of discussions concerning the coach's future.
The U.S. reached the knockout round at this summer's World Cup but lost to Ghana in the first game. Bradley has a 38-21-8 record since taking the coaching job in 2006.
Luis Suarez's refusal to shake hands with Patrice Evra overshadowed Manchester United's 2-1 win over rival Liverpool that lifted the defending champions to first place in the Premier League on Saturday.
Alex Morgan's 2 goals, including the winner in stoppage time, lift the U.S. past New Zealand 2-1.
