Welker plays six snaps, catches two passes

Sporting a knee brace, Wes Welker caught two passes for 20 yards on six snaps in the first quarter of Thursday's preseason game against the Falcons.
Welker was targeted on three straight passes on the opening drive, getting lit up by Falcons corner Chris Owens on the third. He never got a chance to run after the catch, so there was no telling how close he was to peak form. Tonight's action is the strongest indication yet that he will be in the starting lineup in Week 1.
