G Jake Allen helps Blues double up on Coyotes
Jake Allen - G - St Louis Blues
March 7, 2013 - 11:50 PM ET

Goaltender Jake Allen, summoned from the American Hockey League by St. Louis, helped the Blues defeat the Coyotes 6-3 in Phoenix Thursday night.

Allen turned aside 23 of the 26 shots he faced from Phoenix. He was playing his fourth game in six days, having played the previous three in the AHL. He was called up by the Blues on Wednesday. Allen got the nod in the St. Louis net despite the fact that both of the Blues' veteran goaltenders -- Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak -- are healthy. Allen's performance may have been good enough for the Blues to seriously consider the notion of discarding Elliott, who has not enjoyed a good season.
