Conflicting reports on Merriman's intentions

Disputing earlier reports from ESPN and the San Diego Union-Tribune, Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network states that unsigned restricted free agent Shawne Merriman will "not necessarily" report to the Chargers this weekend.
"He hasn't made up his mind," said LaCanfora. "Nothing has been resolved with the Chargers to the point where he's to come back in, sign that tender, and report right away." LaCanfora does say that Merriman will "definitely" report at some point because he has to earn his $3+ million and show other teams that he's worthy of a long-term deal. Merriman is kidding himself if he thinks he has any leverage whatsoever.
