Of course, that kind of talk isn't revolutionary. Lecavalier has been the subject of trade rumors for years, but his struggles over his previous four campaigns relative to his $7,727,273 annual cap hit through 2019-20 made that a moot point. Maybe there were times when the Lightning wanted to trade him, but they couldn't expect much given his contract. However, Lecavalier is playing better this season with six goals and 17 points and the Lightning now even have the ability to eat some of his salary and cap hit should they trade him thanks to the new CBA. So there might be a decent market for him depending on how creative the Lightning are willing to get. At the same time, we aren't expecting the Lightning to make a major trade, although we're sure the Lecavalier trade rumors will heat up as we approach the deadline.
