Jean-Sebastien Giguere has left the Colorado Avalanche to attend his mother's funeral.
Giguere left the team briefly in February to spend time with her as she dealt with a terminal illness. His father passed away in 2008 after a battle with cancer. Giguere plans to rejoin the Avalanche in Detroit, which is where they'll play on Tuesday.
