Eric Staal is healthy and determined to get Carolina back into the playoffs this season.
He played through a groin injury down the stretch, but he is over that now. Staal finished the 2010-11 campaign with 33 goals and 76 points in 81 games. "I want to make the playoffs," he said. "That's the number one thing. You could say I felt good about my season last season, but we missed the playoffs. That's where I want to be and where I want to lead this team to. I want to take a lot of responsibility for that, and want that pressure." Staal will have new linemates this year as well after Erik Cole left to sign with Montreal as a free agent. Calder Trophy winner Jeff Skinner, as well as newcomers Anthony Stewart and Alexei Ponikarovsky could be line to take Cole's place.
