Canes didn't let down in return home
Dan Ellis - G - Carolina Hurricanes
Feb. 15, 2013 - 9:15 AM ET

The Hurricanes played their first home game after 12 days on the road Friday.

After such a long time away from its home arena, it's easy for a team to have a little let down. But Carolina didn't let that happen, toppling the Leafs 3-1. "That's a common trend (and) the coaches did a really good job of addressing that in our meetings," said Dan Ellis, who got the start and won his third game. "They constantly made us aware that, 'Guys, it's almost like an extra road game. Let's approach it with the mentality you want to finish the road trip strong, even though you're at home.'"
