Ben Scrivens is projected to get the majority of Toronto's starts with James Reimer on the shelf for at least a week with a knee injury.
He has played very well in spurts so far this season and coach Randy Carlyle has faith in handing Scrivens the goaltender reigns. "Is (Scrivens) a backup, or is (he) a 1B?" asked Carlyle. "(Reimer and Scrivens are) both young. And at times, I can guarantee you people have had the assessment, 'Is it going to be Scrivens? Or is it going to be Reimer?' We weren't afraid to put (Scrivens) in the net (in the season opener)." He wouldn't name a starter for Thursday's game, but it would surprising if it wasn't Scrivens. The Leafs recalled netminder Jussi Rynnas from the minors on Wednesday.
