Jake Allen won in his first NHL start as the Blues knocked off the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime Wednesday night.
It didn't start off too promising as the 22-year-old gave up a goal on the first shot he faced and the Blues were down 2-0 by 7:54 of the first period. Altogether, he made 15 saves. Depending on how Jaroslav Halak's groin behaves, Allen could be in for a handful of starts in the coming weeks. It also helps him that Brian Elliott hasn't exactly been dominating, either.
