Matt Frattin's surgical procedure on his knee was something the team decided to do now rather than wait.
"He had an issue with his MCL that was corrected, it is something that has flared up and it is not something that the doctors feel is a long-term thing, but definitely have some concern," coach Randy Carlyle said. The Toronto bench boss said the ailment is probably something Frattin could have played through, but they decided to err on the side of caution and just get the problem taken care of as soon as a possible. Carlyle added: "We think he can be playing before the end of the month."
