Hurricanes near the bottom of NHL in hits
Kirk Muller - C - Carolina Hurricanes
Feb. 11, 2013 - 8:55 AM ET

The Carolina Hurricanes have been one of the least physical teams in the league this season.

Carolina has recorded just 199 hits in 10 games, which puts them in 28th place. Part of the reason for that is the loss of Tuomo Ruutu (hip) before the start of the season. Ruutu recorded a team-leading 151 hits last season. Carolina suffered a 4-3 overtime loss to the very physical Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday.
