Mejia throws 45 pitches in first start at AA

Jenrry Mejia allowed one run on two hits over 2 1/3 innings Wednesday in his first start for Double-A Binghamton.
Mejia struck out three and walked two, throwing 45 total pitches. He was sent to the minor leagues on Sunday evening to begin working as a starter in low-pressure situations. The Mets are hoping he will return at some point to do wonders in the major league starting rotation.
