Zach Boychuk has been put on waivers by Carolina.
After playing in the Hurricanes' season opener, Boychuk has been a healthy scratch for the last four contests. NHL teams have until noon Thursday to claim Boychuk and that could happen considering he is only 23 years of age and he has played well in the AHL this campaign in Charlotte. Boychuk registered a team-leading 16 goals and 32 points in 37 games with Carolina's minor-league affiliate prior to joining the big club for training camp. If he clears then he'll head back down to the AHL.
