Feb. 9, 2012 - 6:25 PM ET

Charlie Wi established the new course record at Monterey Peninsula Country Club in his opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at 9-under-par 28-33=61.

Wi went bogey-free today despite hitting just 12 greens in regulation. He hit 11 (of 13) fairways) and took just 22 putts. After starting his round with three pars, he went birdie-birdie-eagle. After another par, he circled three more consecutive birdies. He find two more birdies coming home and finish with a share of the clubhouse lead with Danny Lee. Wi will attempt to tackle Pebble Beach in his second round on Friday.
