Ken Duke crafted an 8-under-par 36-28=64 at Pebble Beach in his opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, good for early possession of the clubhouse lead.
After making the turn in pedestrian even-par, Duke closed with an eagle and six birdies on his inward nine at Pebble to establish a new record for the back side of the historic track. Four of his birdies disappeared from beyond 10 feet including rolls of 17'0" and 15'8" at the 10th and 14th holes, respectively. His eagle occurred at the par-4 16th where he jarred his fairway approach from 140 yards. Duke will attempt to keep the rally rolling at Spyglass Hill on Friday.
