Edmonton Oilers rookie Nail Yakupov, who celebrated his game-tying goal late in regulation Thursday with a dazzling skate and slide from the Los Angeles Kings' zone to the other side of the rink, has drawn some negative reaction from those who thought he was guilty of hot-dogging too much, but the kid isn't apologizing at all.
"It was great," he said. "My parents sent me a text. My friends. Everybody from my home town. My teammates from the national team. Everybody. . .I scored with four seconds left. I was excited," he said. "I wasn't doing something bad for L.A. It was exciting for me. It was exciting for my team. We tied the game and we got the points. That's why I was happy. I think it was good for us and good for fans a little bit. It's not bad. I don't think it's bad."
