The Buffalo Sabres say they are still deciding what to do with Mikhail Grigorenko this season.
Assuming he plays both games of the team's back-to-back set with Carolina then he would have used up four games of his five-game tryout. The Sabres will have to decide soon if Grigorenko will stay in the NHL or return to QMJHL. "We'll really evaluate everything," coach Lindy Ruff said. "What's the best for him? What's the best to push him to the next level? Can he help us win? Can he help us win in the role he's at? All those things will go into consideration. We want to do what's the best for us to win hockey games." Grigorenko doesn't have a point after two games and he has two shots, but he stated that he has "adjusted to the speed" of the league and now he is hoping to bring his "skill to this lineup." He skated with Steve Ott and possible returnee Nathan Gerbe on the team's third line at practice on Wednesday.
