Jack Hillen (upper body) skated alone for roughly 20 minutes prior to Washington's optional skate on Wednesday.
He suffered an apparent shoulder injury in the season opener against Tampa Bay and is currently on the team's injured reserve list. Coach Adam Oates noted his appearance on the ice as a bit of a surprise, so perhaps he'll be able to return sooner than expected. His status is listed as week-to-week.
