Detroit not likely to land top free agents

The Red Wings may not be able to land a top-tier free agent this offseason.
In the past the Wings have waited to sign free agents as the summer nears completion. AS it stands Detroit has 15 players signed for $46.8 million. With a projected cap of $62, that leaves eight spots for $16 million. Of those eight spots, Nicklas Lidstrom has to be considered. As a result of all this financial restrain, Detroit is likely to be a minor player only in the free agent market.
