Zach Boychuk will start the regular season on the Hurricanes' number one line.
He will skate alongside Eric Staal and Alexander Semin. This is a huge opportunity for the 23-year-old who has had some offensive success at the AHL level but has yet to parlay it into a permanent roster spot in Carolina. Boychuk was a junior scoring star with Lethbridge of the WHL but in 72 NHL games over four seasons he has registered a paltry 18 points. We remain skeptical.
