After taking a puck to the eye at a conditioning camp, Ryan Jones has decided that he will wear a visor while playing hockey from now on.
Jones will be sidelined until at least early February, but it could have been much worse. "The doctor said it wasn't in my field of vision, so I'm pretty lucky," he said. "The doctor said my reaction saved me. If I'd turned to see what was coming, I'd have lost my eye for good. I count my blessings. It's not just my livelihood, it's one of your senses. I'm happy to have my vision. I'm almost back to normal. It's irritated in the corners of my eye, which is why it's red, but that's it."
