Jimmy Howard is in the last season of his contract, but he doesn't want to spend too much time thinking about his future.
"You want to go out there and prove yourself," said Howard. "But especially in a contract year, I think guys have a tendency to overdo it. And that's what I learned last time, is to just keep everything in check." Howard is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He had a 2.12 GAA and .920 save percentage in 2011-12 and he's in for a big raise over his current $2.25 million salary if he posts anything close to those numbers in 2013.
