St. Louis, Thomas set for ECF showdown
Martin St. Louis - W - Tampa Bay Lightning
May 12, 2011 - 11:55 PM ET

Martin St. Louis will face former college teammate and current Boston puck-stopper Tim Thomas in the Eastern Conference Finals in Game 1 on Saturday.

Eighteen years ago, they were college freshmen with the University of Vermont. St. Louis went undrafted and Thomas didn't make a permanent transition to the NHL until he was 31 years of age. Now they are both making significant impacts at the NHL level for their respective organizations. "We both found a way," said St. Louis. "We definitely had to fight our way into the league and earn our chances, and even then they didn't come at first. I'm proud that we did. I'm proud of Timmy that he did. He battled." This will likely be something they talk about for years after the fact, but starting Saturday they will be adversaries with a great deal on the line.
