The Carolina Hurricanes have acquired Kevin Westgarth from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Anthony Stewart, a 2013 fourth-round draft pick, and a 2014 sixth-round pick.
Westgarth had two points and 39 penalty minutes in 25 games with the Kings last season. He didn't participate in the Kings' Stanley Cup-winning playoff run. "We were looking for a character, team guy who can play a gritty role for our team," said Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford. "Kevin is a good addition to fill that spot." He'll probably get more playing time in Carolina, but you still need to be pretty desperate for PIM before he's worth considering in fantasy leagues.
