Alex Ovechkin comes in Capitals training camp in mid-season form, contributing 19 goals and 21 assists in 31 games during a stint in his native Russia.
Compared to other NHLers playing in the KHL, Ovechkin's stat line is pretty good. He didn't have the explosive effect Evgeni Malkin did (65 points), but was just 2 points behind Ilya Kovalchuk despite playing in 5 less games, and finished with the same points and games total as Red Wings star Pavel Datsyk.
