Pierce passes Bird for No. 2 scorer for Celts
Paul Pierce - G/F - Boston Celtics
Feb. 8, 2012 - 8:10 AM ET

Paul Pierce had 15 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and two 3-pointers as he passed Larry Bird to become the Celtics No. 2 all-time leading scorer on Tuesday.

Pierce needed nine points to tie Bird's total of 21,791, and passed him on a 3-pointer in the third quarter. He's got a long way to go to catch leader John Havlicek, who sits at 26,395, and struggled with his shot tonight, hitting 6-of-18 from the floor, and 2-of-10 from downtown. Meanwhile, the Celtics have quietly won five straight and nine of their last 10 games after getting off to a slow start on the season.
