Details trickling out in new NHL deal
Sidney Crosby - C - Pittsburgh Penguins
Jan. 6, 2013 - 7:15 AM ET

Some details of the new NHL deal with its players association have started to trickle out.

The $300 million in 'make whole' has been known for some time but all 10 years will be a 50-50 split. In addition, the salary cap this season will be at $70.2 million with a floor of $54.2 million, going down to $64.3 million and $44 million respectively next season. The deal is for 10 years with an opt out after eight seasons. More details to follow but the two sides have to put everything down on paper and that could take a few days.
