John Gaudreau's production not shocking
John Gaudreau - C - Calgary Flames
Jan. 4, 2013 - 9:40 AM ET

John Gaudreau's performance in the world junior hockey championships has Flames management happy but unsurprised.

The 2011 104th overall pick has a tournament-high seven goals and two assists. "Johnny is a known entity to us," Calgary's assistant general manager John Weisbrod said. "We know how good this guy is. We know what he's capable of. I've been thrilled ' especially after him getting cut last year and knowing how much that hurt him ' that he's been able to have so much personal success and, to this point, team success." Gaudreau is currently a sophomore at Boston College, and he has 23 points in 14 games. "Those are the kind of guys that succeed," Weisbrod said. "You take a guy with high skill, high hockey sense, then put it in a human being that loves the game to death ... these are the kind of results you get."
