Mike Kostka may get a look with Maple Leafs
Mike Kostka - D - Toronto Maple Leafs
Jan. 2, 2013 - 12:50 PM ET

Mike Kostka could get a look at training camp with the Toronto Maple Leafs pending an end to the lockout.

He has played very well for Marlies in the AHL this season and has been impressive since Jake Gardiner went down with a neck injury. If the lockout ends and Gardiner is still deemed unfit to play then it might increase Kostka's chances of sticking with the big club. "When he goes to the NHL, yeah, he's going to have to make adjustments," said assistant coach Gord Dineen. "But I think he's smart enough to make those adjustments, just maybe do things a little bit quicker sometimes with the puck." Kostka has racked up 29 points in 31 games this year and currently sits tied for second in scoring among AHL defensemen.
