WVU’s ‘Truck’ not necessarily parked for good

Less than 2 weeks after breaking foot, PG Bryant plans to play in Final Four

West Virginia's Darryl Bryant has been sidelined since breaking his right foot during practice Tuesday.

West Virginia guard Darryl "Truck" Bryant is planning to play in the Final Four, less than two weeks after he broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during a practice session.

Trainer Randy Meador said it will be up to coach Bob Huggins how much he uses Bryant. Ideally, he would be available to provide some relief for point guard Joe Mazzulla, who went 30 minutes in the Mountaineers' 73-66 victory Saturday over top seed Kentucky.

Meador said the injury is "not a big break" and that West Virginia will work with a specialist who'll reconstruct a basketball shoe for Bryant and design an orthotic device to shift the weight away from the affected area.

"We're going to try to do some things, see what happens," Meador said. "It's really going to be pushing it.

"Coach puts them in. If we can get him ready and he can help us out, then great. We have got to try. This doesn't happen too often."
