Malcolm Subban appreciates the confidence that Team Canada coach Steve Spott has displayed in him during the World Junior Championship.
"He showed he has a lot of faith in me and I really don't want to let him down," said Subban following Monday's win over Russia. "I'm trying my hardest to play well and hopefully I can keep that up for the rest of tournament." Subban didn't have a good selection camp and his work in the pre-tournament didn't inspire confidence either, but Spott has handed him the reigns so far and the move has paid off. Subban posted four wins and no losses in the preliminary round, to go with a 2.00 goals-against average. He has also stopped 107 of the 115 shots thrown his way.
