Team USA defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for slashing in Monday's 9-3 victory against Slovakia.
The infraction will likely be reviewed by the International Ice Hockey Federation and a suspension could follow heading into the playoff round of the tournament. Gostisbehere was selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. He is currently playing in his second season at Union College.
