An anonymous NHL team executive has described the latest CBA offer from the league as the "tipping point" in the talks.
The NHLPA is expected to make a counteroffer and once they do, we should have a better idea of how likely we are to get an NHL season. There's still some time to work things out if talks break down again, but not much. The NHL made some significant concessions from its previous offer, including backing away from its insistence on a five-year cap on player contracts. The NHL is now willing to allow for six-year contracts under normal circumstances and seven-year deals if a player is re-signing with his current club.
