After struggling with the AHL Abbotsford Heat and ECHL Utah Grizzlies, Michael Ferland is trying to re-sign with the WHL Brandon Wheat Kings.
It's an obvious setback for Ferland, who had 47 goals and 96 points in 68 WHL games last season. "It came down to trying to come back for another year of junior," Ferland. "It's only going to get harder to crack Abbotsford's lineup with the team they have..." The lockout has enhanced the AHL and ECHL, so Ferland might have an easier time transitioning to the minors in 2013-14. That is, of course, assuming that the lockout doesn't extend into next season.
