Scott Howson defends Boone Jenner
Boone Jenner - C - Columbus Blue Jackets
Dec. 24, 2012 - 10:30 AM ET

Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson defended Boone Jenner's hit on Swedish defenseman Jesper Pettersson during a tune-up game leading up to the World Junior Championship.

Jenner was assessed a charging major and a game misconduct. He might also be suspended for his actions. Meanwhile, Pettersson is out of the tournament with a fractured wrist and dislocated shoulder. "It was not a malicious hit," Howson said. "It was a little late." Columbus took Jenner in the second round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
