Kopitar wins Slovenian sportsman of the year
Anze Kopitar - C - Los Angeles Kings
Dec. 20, 2012 - 9:05 PM ET

Anze Kopitar has been named the Slovenian sportsman of the year.

He earned 261 votes from Slovenian journalists to earn the honor, which easily got him by hammer thrower Primoz Kosmus, who won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics, and his 182 votes. Kopitar helped the Los Angeles Kings win the 2012 Stanley Cup, which feels like ages ago now. He is currently playing in Sweden's second division with Mora during the lockout, where he has nine goals and 20 assists in 27 games.
