Owings solid in relief of Arroyo
Micah Owings - S - Cincinnati Reds
March 18, 2010 - 1:05 AM ET

Micah Owings tossed three hitless innings in a loss to an Indians' split squad team on Wednesday night.

Impressive, albeit largely against members of the Indians' "B" squad. Owings walked two and fanned two in the outing and has now allowed three runs in six innings of work this spring (4.50 ERA). It will at least keep him in the conversation to be the fifth starter, however he'll have to fend off Matt Maloney, Travis Wood, Justin Lehr, Kip Wells and Aroldis Chapman to win the job. Chances are he ends up in the bullpen.
