Cliff Lee was suspended for the first five games of the season and fined an undisclosed amount for throwing at Diamondbacks' catcher Chris Snyder on Monday.
Of course, he can appeal, however this will at least force the Mariners to rearrange their plans for the first week of the season. Lee actually threw consecutive pitches at Snyder on Monday, one inside and another over his head. The incident caused both benches and bullpens to clear, however no punches were thrown. The whole thing apparently stemmed from Lee tripping over Snyder while backing up a play at home plate. Hope it was worth it.
